Cohen Modal Haplotype

Postby matityahu » Sun Sep 11, 2016 11:23 am

Is this something I could test for or know if I've already had a test taken?

I contacted Dr. Yates, and he said the Cohen Modal Haplotype is defined by a set of 10-12 Y-STR values. If you have taken a Y chromosome test you will be told if you match them (J1 haplotype) and you will also match a bunch of men named Cohen/Cone etc.

Hope this helps,
Jakay

I took the Jewish DNA Fingerprint Plus, is there a way to find out with those results?

The Jewish DNA Fingerprint Plus test is an autosomal test, not sex-related, and won't give you information related to the Y-chromosome. You would need to take a Premium Male DNA Test based on Y-DNA. DNA Consultants website can explain the test, and if you want to order one, you can do it through the website or by calling the office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. M-F MT.

Hope this helps,
Jakay
