Does anyone else here have a “family story” of remote Scottish ancestry?

There’s a story, passed down through my paternal line, that an ancestor of our fled England for Scotland when the king of England kicked our the Jews — then, centuries later, a descendant of that line went to the Russian Empire (as it was then) because the Tsar was seeking all over Europe for skilled craftsmen to build up his domains — so we became builders for the Tsar, and then we came to America.
Grandpa and Dad taught this to all their kids from as soon as we could talk — most of my generation (and my mom) dismissed it as just being “a fun family myth” — but then a paternal-line male cousin and I tested with DNA consultants, and our Jewish Fingerprints Plus reports each show Lowland Scottish ancestry (not much for me, but in my cousin”s report it’s literally the first population mentioned in the great big heading on Page 3. Who here has any similar stories? And is it OK to post this same inquiry to more than one forum? (Some forum sites forbid cross-posting, and I’m new here, so I SURELY don’t want to be blocked!)

No certain individuals, but informal traces back to Lowland and Highland as well as to the Dal Riata kingdom straddling west coast of Scotland, east coast of Ireland and the islands in between. Did hear of 5 McKinney brothers immigrating to the British Colonies in North American in the early 1700s.

Thank you. DNA tests from DNAconsultants.com (done for me and a cousin) suggest that our family’s “Scottish story” may be correct — but also, somewhat surprisingly for us, suggest an ancestry that must also include Melungeon and Southeast Native American ancestry. We”re waiting to see what else may arise, as I’ve purchased DNA Platinum service, so Jacqueli Finley at the company is going back through vital records.

I’ve been trying to figure out how, for instance, Native American DNA could be in there (my cousin, unfortunately, hasn’t, as ne basically figured that, well, that part of the report just can’t be on-target) … the only thing I can think of is because I know that my paternal grandmother descends (on her mother”s side) from a man called Yotszchak Daniel Kornblum, who was brief,y in the USA to fight in the American Revolution (Grabdma always insisted that “he fought on the GOOD side, of course!) but then returned to Poland because he didn’t think he could live a kosher life in America. (Maybe he’d married a Native American, during his time here, and returned with a wife or a child? But I’d have thought that Grandma would have mentioned THAT .. she was very interested in Indians, as were many Jewish immigrants to th3 USA.)
