my mothers 73 year old cousin sent these family photos to me last week. Just wanted to share them.
Top is my great grandfather DeLoss Crittenden Ford born 1884 Barton Co Missouri with unkown women. Taken in Vinita, Oklahoma around 1899.
Second photo is Deloss with a horse.
Third photo is DeLoss working in the hay fields of Barton Co Missouri early 1900’s drinking out of the jug.
Fourth photo is my great aunt Dorothy Ford taken early 1900’s.

Great photos. I need to get scanning the ones I have, many I don't know who they are... just on my dad's side somehow.
Re: A few family photos
Thanks for posting. Your great grandfather DeLoss Crittenden Ford looks quite Choctaw in my opinion, although a quick search shows Crittenden is usually Cherokee and DeLoss is Kiowa.

emmdee2,
maybe one day you will find out who they are. Hold on to them and maybe ask anyone on your dads side if they may know who they are

Dr. Yates,
Thank you. I can see that Choctaw in there. And like you said Crittenden is usually Cherokee. His middle name started my research on him and then out of no where my mothers cousin sends the photos and my jaw dropped. Family names associated with him are Steele, Davis, Harris, Evans, possibly Love. His father was born in Arkansas and has the middle name of Marion. I found that Marion is in Crittenden County Arkansas. Kind of odd finding the names matching place names. Geographical areas that we think we know are Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama. I have traced there migration paths and all seem odd to me especially concerning dates of family migrations. His mother was an Evans born in McDonough Ill supposedly. But we think we traced the Evans line back to GA 1700’s. It’s all confusing right now. As far as Kiowa. Not sure how that would fit in but anything is possible especially with dispersions and removals of those time periods. I have a good friend who is Modoc/ Quapaw. We look like we could be cousins. Had an instant connection when we first met at a school we attended some years back. In my families research things just don't seem to fit or make sense right now but maybe one day we will find something out.

Re: A few family photos
This is a picture of one of DeLoss’ sisters, Mary Ester born 1894 location unknown as of yet. What is odd is I have found her on a non population census in Crawford Kansas 1905 when she was 11 in a household of the surname Sandridge. Strange as her parents Francis Marion Ford and Amanda Lota or Loretta Evans were still alive at the time. Mary Ford went on in life to be a Pastor of the Methodist Church. I am finding many connections to Native Americans and the churches. That the churches would select certain Indian children to become preachers and pastors to spread the christian faith amongst the Native population. Two Fords from this line previously were pastors/ preachers. One moving on to Thurmwater Washington.

Re: A few family photos
Deloss’ grandparents Ester Love Steele and William Ford were both born 1825 and 1826 in Marshall and McMinn Counties Tennessee. That we know of. And by 1860 were living in Arkansas, where Deloss’ father was born. I have a hunch, but don't know for certain, that my family is or may be of more American Indian heritage than what we know of. I think the same would go for any American today that can trace their lineage back to Colonial America.
