From my research I also understand the Native Americal - Choles - Chiapas Mexico match to be the Mayan area in Mexico. Do you have any additional information on this marker?
I had American Indian tribal regions (7,27,40,41 markers map) as well as spanish/portuguese.
Native AMerican - Saskatchewan (n=105) and (n=40
Native American - Michigan (n=29) - which I understand to be Cherokee
Native American - Choles - chiapa, Mexico (n=109)

Native American - Choles - Chiapas, Mexico - rank 11 is listed in my World Population Matches, too. I’m hoping to learn more about it as well. You might want to look at my post in the Cherokee forum where I’ve given an overview of my World Population Matches.
Re: Native American - Choles - Chiapas Mexico
There is an interesting article about Chiapas at http://www.houstonculture.org/mexico/chiapas.html. In it, I read that while Chiapas is in the Mayan area, the Chiapas are a separate culture from the Mayan, who were Guatamalan. I am continuing to research your post- hope this helps for now.
Re: Native American - Choles - Chiapas Mexico
Thanks for this article. What an unstable and difficult history the people of Chiapas, Mexico have endured.
There is a section telling about the Choles - scroll down a little more than half-way. It would be so interesting to know the story of how our family inherited this DNA.
