Shari, a lot of people in and around Wayne County believe they have Cherokee anscestors, but "experts" will argue that the Cherokee were never there. This is a subject I have studied for several years. It's good to read your post.

In the past I have found mitosearch.org to be quite useful, but I was recently informed by Family Tree DNA, who owns mitosearch, that they are no longer maintaining the web site. It is still up, but has become a little buggy and does not always work. Really a shame. It's a great tool for genealogist...

I have a few cousins who took a dna test for me and I uploaded their results to gedmatch. The site is not the most user friendly, but you can get some interesting information from it.
